Henley Photographic Club Programme

September 2008


Tuesday 9th September
An Open Evening for prospective new members to learn about the Club.
Welcome back by Club chairman Jonathan Farmer. An introduction to the Club including membership, the committee, programme outline, competitions and competition rules.
An exhibition of the best prints from last season along with a slide show of the best projected images and an audiovisual presentations.


Tuesday 16

Print assessment by three experienced members who will comment and mark prints out of five. Members may enter five prints.

Projected images assessment by three experienced members who will comment and mark images out of five. Members may enter five images (slides or digital images).


Tuesday 30
th September
Workshop: Presenting images by club member John Simons, including mounting prints, print sizes allowed in competitions, digital projected images size and how to set it in Photoshop, cropping images for competitions.
Workshop: Taking images for an audiovisual presentation by club member Geoff Briggs, giving guidance on how to take images for an audiovisual presentation
.

Tuesday 14
th October
Workshop: Photoshop techniques by club member John Margerum including how to get started with Photoshop, cleaning up images for competitions and combining several images into one.

Workshop: Using Audacity by club member Norman Horsham including a demonstration of how Audacity works, how to obtain a copy of the software and sources of music and copyright issues.

Club competition judged by John Tween LBIPP, LRPS.
Projected images portfolio (five entries per person, one from each genre: landscape, natural history, portrait, close-up, abstract, still life, documentary, artistic interpretation, sport, movement, buildings).



Wednesday 22nd October
Digital Rose Bowl competition round 1 away at Buckingham.
Buckingham v Henley v Oxford v Wallingford.




Tuesday 28th October
Audiovisual presentation: The annual Clay Cross slide show.

Workshop: Reassessment of competition entries. Members can bring old and new images for further assessment by club members.

Joint meeting with Marlow Photographic Club at Henley.

Tuesday 25th November
Two internal competitions for club members, judged by the members:
Projected images ‘portfolio’: combined scores from five photographs of the Amberley Working Museum.
Audiovisual competition: One audiovisual presentation per member (maximum four minutes duration) of the Amberley Working Museum.



December 2008


Tuesday 2nd December
The Ready Steady Shoot competition (an opportunity for club members to use their cameras).
Four teams will visit four studio set ups to produce their best image at each.
Digital images will be saved for judging in two weeks time.

Members’ travelogues (Part 1). Club members will have ten minutes to show their travel pictures.

Audiovisual show (Part 1). A showcase of audiovisual presentations produced by members. (This is
not the internal audiovisual competition.)

Imagez v Henley v Leighton Buzzard v Croxley.

Natural history @ Henley, an illustrated talk by club member Tuc Ahmad.

Workshop: Reassessment of competition entries. Members can bring old and new images for further assessment by club members.
