Select the file in a
folder (EG My Pictures).

After you select the
files, press F2. OR Right Click and choose RENAME
from the menu

Type the new name, and
then press ENTER. (EG imageTitle by authorName.jpg
>Enter)

Notes
If you make a mistake when you try to rename your file, you can press CTRL+Z, or click Undo Rename on the Edit menu to undo file rename action you just completed, and you can repeat this process as needed.
How to rename your files on Mac OS X
1. Select the item you want to rename on your desktop or in a Finder window, then press Return.
2. Type a name and press the Return key again.
Note:
You can use numbers and most symbols in a filename. However, you cannot include a colon (:) in a filename or start a filename with a period (.). Some applications may not allow you to use a slash (/) in a filename.
