Rosebowl Second Round

Henley Photographic Club came third in its second round heat of the CACC Rosebowl competition. Trhe event was held at Chesham and judged by Ian Shaw.

Overall scores

1st Harrow CC 270; 2nd Imagez 262; 3rd Henley PC 256; 4th Chesham PC 254

Two Henley club members scored a maximum 20 pints - Angela Davison, ‘The Contest’ and Paul Newbery, ‘November Shore’.

CoLab Winners

The CoLab portfolio print trophy was judged by Barbara Lyddiatt. With the accumulated scores of five prints in five different genres, there were joint winners with 92 points: John Long and Norman Horsham.

There were also eight prints given a maximum score of 20: ‘Pink Peony’ by Sue Hatch, ‘Up for it’ by Harry Harbour, ‘The Ascension’ and ‘Lighting up Time’ both by Norman Horsham, ‘Henley Reflections’ by Angela Davison, ‘Bee on Holly Flowers’ by John Long, ‘Garden Grapes’ by Sandy Clayson and ‘Orchid Centre’ by Tony Taylor.

Summer Project Winners

The results of the summer project, to visit and photograph London’s South Bank, were assessed on 22nd November. All the Club members were involved in the judging.

Graham Slinn produced the best audiovisual sequence. Angela Davison made the best print panel. Tony Taylor won the projected images portfolio.

Club Competition Round 2

The second round of The Club Competition was judged by Peter Jackman APAGB on 8th November. In the prints, with the set subject, ‘Letter G’, Angela Davison scored a maximum 20 points with two offerings - ‘Golf’ and ‘Guitar’.

The projected image category was Open. Angela Davison scored another 20 with ‘The Scoop’ and Pam Long achieved this top mark with ‘Water over Pebbles’.

Close second in Rosebowl

Henley Photographic Club came within two points of winning its first round heat of the CACC Rosebowl competition. The overall result, as judged by Don Byatt, was:

1st Ealing and Harrow Hill 252; 2nd= Henley, Buckingham 250.

For Henley, Angela Davison achieved a score of 20 for Snow Tree.

Club Competition Round 1

The first round of The Club Competition was judged by Roger McCallum on 4th October. Four prints scored a maximum 20 marks: Fishing and The Tritons both by Norman Horsham; Autumn Trees by Angela Davison; Tower Bridge by Sam Giles.

Three projected images scored 20 marks: Launch by Roger Nolan; Water over Pebbles by Pan Long;  Wembley Stadium by Tony Taylor.

Presentations Night

Henley Photographic Club concluded its 2010-2011 season on Tuesday 24th May with a prize giving and celebration evening. A full list of prizewinners can be found in the Archive on the Tutorials & Reference page.

YMCA Hall

Work on relaying the YMCA hall floor is now complete. Henley Photographic Club meetings will return to this venue from 1st November.

Meeting at Henley Cricket Club

The first meeting of the new season will be held in the pavilion of Henley Cricket Club from 8.00 p.m. Directions to the pavilion can be found on the Location page.

YMCA Hall Flooded

The Club’s usual meeting place, the Henley YMCA hall, has been damaged by internal flooding. The committee is seeking an alternative venue for Club meetings while the YMCA repairs its hall.

Health and Safety

All visitors to Henley Photographic Club are required to sign in at the beginning of each meeting for safety reasons. At the same time, you can preorder your refreshments for the half-time break.
