Henley Photographic Club runs a number of internal competitions each year as well as taking part in ‘battles’ against other Clubs.

Entering Club competitions is an excellent way to improve your photography as you will get the opinion of an experienced judge. You just need to be aware that different judges may have different opinions about your photographs.

Print Master, Image Master and Photographer/of the Year

The main Club Competition is run over five rounds, with three open subjects and two set subjects. There are categories for prints, projected images and a combined score. Members enter three images or prints in each round.

The competition is also divided into novice, intermediate and advanced sections.

One-off competitions

There are also annual competitions for

  • Black and white prints (George Bushell Shield)
  • Natural history photography
  • Audiovisual presentations
  • A set of five prints (CoLab trophy) or projected images (alternate years)
  • Best print in a set subject (Agar Trophy)
